This is what I understood, they are referring to the time period between two shipping dates, hence a total number of days.
However, it's more common in software interfaces to enter the beginning and ending dates as Paul suggested, and the computer calculates the interval automatically. If you need to be literal, though, "start and end dates" is therefore incorrect, because it's not a translation of the word "interval."
What wasn't clear in the info you provided is: if you are in the user interface, and you put in a beginning date, do you specify the date interval by filling in the end date or by specifying the number of days of the interval to the end date - your answer is there. But it comes to mind that if it were the end date, the Portuguese would have said something like data final/de inicio e nao intervalo...
