J'aurais envie de traduire par "se pencher sur", mais franchement, je ne connais pas ce terme:

My first thought was 'se pencher sur...' too, but I think the context demands slightly more emphasis than that, and I'd like to suggest the above as a try, if you as the native speaker feel that this could work in FR?

je viens tout juste de penser à "dépouiller" - m'est d'avis que c'est pas mal non plus. Par contre, je pense que la phrase, pour sa tonalité, veut un simple verbe régulier à une ou deux syllabes...
