For polyglot 45: Similes often compare two very different things or employ exaggeration in order to make a point. It's an exaggeration ... a claim that something is greater than it actually is.

Note from asker:
The customer comment is supposed to be all positive here, that's why I didn't think "weighs a ton" was litteral here. |
I don't think that being heavy is a quality for a radio. |

: In the absence of any more context, One of the rare situations where the literal translation is perfectly correct ...:)// polyglot: there is an ad on FR TV which uses this expression for a gas bottle: obviously not in a literal sense either.

: given the explanation it simply means that it is very heavy - not necessarily a ton// pour 1045 d'accord mais si une mère passe son bambin à une amie en disant: careful, he weighs a ton, je pense qu'il ne faudrait pas le prendre au pied de la lettre

See note above ... Nobody in their right mind would think that it weighs a tonne (ton) ... metric or otherwise ... At least, the asker understands ... Thanks polyglot45 for your input ...

punchy yet quite refined sound. good dab reception. great conectivity, i use it for my pc, i pod, cd and radio in the bedroom. quality build (it weighs a ton!) and can be matched with an amp or alternative speakers.
I don't know what the best French translation is, but it certainly means good quality ie good solid made-to-last engineering rather than cheap lightweight throwaway replicas
