The agreement that Romania wishes to conclude with the Republic of Moldova will allow the citizens of the two countries, who live in a well-defined area nearby the common border, to travel in that given area of the two countries without any visas or passports, only based on small-scale cross-border traffic.

The draft Convention on the small border traffic was forwarded by the Romanian Government to the Moldovan Government on March 25. The draft provides that the Moldovan citizens living on an area of 30 km from the border with Romania will be able to the neighboring country without visas, on the basis of a special permit valid up to five years.
