criticaliteit

Hi,
The EU uses 'criticaliteit' as the traslation for 'criticality'. Refer to web site:
http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/nl/lif/dat/1996/nl_396L0049.htm...

However, if your document refers to 'FMECA (Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analyses)' I would not translate the word but leave it in English. When not used in the abbreviation it is translated with 'kriticiteits-' and the noun that follows.

If 'criticality' is used in the following meaning:
a classification of a software error or fault based upon an evaluation of the degree of impact of that error or fault on the development or operation of a system(often used to determine whether or when a fault will be corrected)

Then you can translate with 'ernst van een fout' (see Eurodicautom).

It is a term taken from risk management and normally you can calculate the 'criticality' of a certain stage in your process. Based on this value you can in turn decide on the viability of the project as a whole, etc.

In the context of SAP and network planning it usually refers to the degree of importance of a certain element in the whole picture (i.e. system) and if you are sure that this is the context meant you can use 'criticaliteit'.

Hope this helps.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "It indeed refers to the degree of importance of a certain element in the whole system. I will use 'criticaliteit' . Thank you very much. Now I feel more confident."

Re: criticality

Would like to help. Could you provide a little more context?

foutlimietanalyse

may sound slightly awkward too, but less so than 'criticaliteit', may fit in the context and at least carries information

nothing 'official', though!
