Even though the Italian uses a causative structure - fatto leggere.. - this would perhaps sound strange in English. The Police GETTING you to/MAKING you confirm something sounds a bit like coercion ...

La formula per esteso "Fatto, letto, confermato e sottoscritto" è molto più ricorrente dell'abbreviazione, a quanto vedo.
