Base housings for posts shall have ample accommodation for the electrical components to be fixed therein. Suitable means shall be provided for cố định the posts firmly to the base housings. Base plates shall have an area not less than two and a half times the plan area of the base housings and shall be not less than 4.5 mm thick in the case of steel and aluminium plate and not less than 6.5 mm thick for cast housings.

À, như vậy thì rõ rồi, base housing là phần đế bên dưới trụ đèn, thường làm bằng beton. Trụ đèn bằng kim loại thường được lắp bằng bulon móng lên phần đế này. Phần đế này đủ rộng để có thể chứa các thiết bị điện/tủ điện. Phần đế này có một phần lắp âm dưới đất, một phần nổi lên trên mặt đất.
