I looked around the 国税局 site, but couldn't find any applicable 英訳. Someone may spot it later. It is "the number of dependents for whom the taxpayer (if this is 源泉徴収票、employee) has filed an exemption with other employer(s)".
Other employers are 従たる給与の支払者, as opposed to 主たる給与の支払者= (primary) employer who submits this 源泉徴収票). I didn't use the word "secondary" for 従たる給与の支払い者, because I don't know how 主 and 従 are decided.
I think, and I hope it's rare to see a number there. An employee, who is employed by more than one employer, may claim a dependent exemption (and withholding exemption) with each employer if s/he meets certain criteria -- probably the primary salary alone is not sufficient to receive all the entitled credits....
