This is actually for a novel set in the future. I understand "a crystal plasma screen" but am not sure if that exists. It could potentially be a future invention created by the writer. Any comments?

Hi GG :) I think more context would be useful, or perhaps you can use the wider context to make a decision about how to translate the phrase. It could be referring to a crystal-clear screen, as Mike suggests, one that is far superior to the screens available at the moment. You could eally emphasise this point in your translation, focusing on the clarity of the image. This would fit the context of a futuristic novel. However, as Edward suggests, it could simply be referring to the type of screen - one made out of glass. I suppose it depends on the effect your choice will have on the meaning of the phrase in the context in which it's set...

(crystal) plasma screen

Note that 'cristalino' is masculine and therefore modifies 'plasma' (which despite its ending is also masculine) and not 'pantalla'.

Crystal plasma screens are now so common for TVs and computers that I doubt the 'crystal' is necessary. The crystals are, I believe, liquid ones.

neutral Edward Tully : I agree re the translation of cristalino with plasma as per my translation, but I can't find any hits or references for "crystal plasma screen". As this is a text set in the future, the asker is searching for something more original I think...
