casco

Discussion

Patricia Rosas (asker) Oct 16, 2009:
Hi, Henry: This is all I can tell you. Tour guide of Chiapas with lots of pretty pictures. For the second sentence, two interior shots of the main house. For the first, ruined and not-so-ruined remains (chapel, store). The discussions are very brief, and what I posted is about all there is... Personally, I think that Maria's answer is probably the most workable one, with yours a close second choice,
Henry Hinds Oct 16, 2009:
Problema de siempre It's the problem you have all the time when the word in the source language is generic, yet the target language offers a variety of specific alternatives. Thus, you have to know more about the subject (CONTEXT), which may or may not be possible.

main house and surrounding buildings

It could also be just "main house" if we are talking only of the dwelling, the residence, the place where the owners lived.
