Apologies for asking the question again - for some reason that answer didn't come up when I searched for the term. However, I'm not sure that "refunded" really fits in this context as company X intended to charge the client a certain amount on the basis of these fictitious invoices (sorry, should have made that clearer in my original question) - so as far as I can work out, money is being charged rather than refunded.
