Japanese term

キャンセル抜け

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Computers (general)
This term appears in a technical specification describing the UI operations of a software. The text describes that when the End button is pressed, this will lead to キャンセル抜け or メニュー抜け.

I'm not sure what 抜け means here. Does it mean "to skip" or "return to the previous screen"? Please help. Thanks.

exit by cancelling

Usually, program engineers use "抜ける" for "exit" from a menu, mode or else.
This must mean return to the previous screen, not "skip".
The sentence would be "When the [End] button is pressed, this will lead to exit by cancelling or exit from the current menu."

agree htake1 : Agree. Though "抜ける" here simply implies "exiting/getting-out" --not necessary "to previous state" always. Just like you can imagine from, for example, WinUI operations, pressing Cancel can also abort something, close window, etc. Same is true here.
