How would you translate מטע פרוץ וזנוח? Unguarded and abandoned orchard?
My question is primarily about פרוץ. Unguarded isn't accurate, but I can't think of a better word. Perhaps "many of the orchards were abandoned and broken into?"

fenceless and abandoned
Could be.
Note from asker:
I should have provided more context. The place is פרוץ וזנוח because of war. So I think that fence-less isn't best here. I think that the point is that because of the war, the orchards are abandoned and people can come in and take fruit. I don't think that the emphasis is on the place being physically פרוץ though that is an option too. Thanks. |

: Yes, that's one of the meanings of "פרוץ" - i.e.:פתוח לרווחה; פתוח, לא מוקף

abandoned and neglected
While this is just two forms of the word זנוח, I think it conveys the message and meaning of the original.

Open to all and sundry
If you're coming from the literary angle, not the legal one,
this conveys exactly what you're after.
