Maybe the source sentence ... ... should be interpreted more freely, for instance:

The past month was decisive for – as well as indicative of – the current state of the economy.

The problem lies with the preceding word, "decisive", which really "says it all"; "decisive and significant" sounds a little tautological. "Indicative" begs the question "of what?", so if "indicative" is used, saying "indicative of the state of the Bulgarian economy" would sound more logical in English.
