Spanish term

con vinculadas a valores de mercado

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Accounting Accounts
Context: La Sociedad realiza todas sus operaciones con vinculadas a valores de mercado

I'm not sure about this. It's a construction company, does this mean it links its operations to the security market? Help appreciated,

Peer comment(s):

agree Richard Boulter : I think the wording is right, but the interpretation may be wrong, here. The reference may be to the corporation's pricing for its services/work being in line with market prices for the same business activities.

It seems that there is a word missing: with what related to market values? Maybe you can get the meaning from the context. I tend to agree with Taña that it refers to shares.

related party transactions at market value

Source text:
La Sociedad realiza todas sus operaciones con vinculadas a valores de mercado.
Suggested translation
The Company carries out its related party transactions at market values.

Observe the use of "vinculadas". "Vinculadas" is used as a noun and it actually means "partes vinculadas", meaning related parties.

Operaciones con vinculadas are related party transactions. The term commonly used in the Spanish of Mexico is "operaciones con partes relacionadas" or "operaciones entre partes relacionadas".

Barron's Accounting Handbook has the following definition:
Related party transactions:
Interaction between two parties, one of whom can exercise control or significant influence over the operating policies of the other. A "special relationship" may exist, for example, between a business enterprise and its principal owners. In related party situations, the following footnote disclosures are required: (1) nature of the relationship; (2) description of the transaction including amounts; (3) amounts due from, or to, related parties at year end; (4) the effects of any change in terms; and (5) manner of settlement. Even though no transactions occurred between related parties in the current year, disclosure of the nature of the control relationship is required.

Hope this helps.
In my 22nd year of translating from Spanish into English almost exclusively for Mexico City based member firms of big 4 and 2nd tier international public accounting firms, as well as other financial entities.

Related party transactions are related to arm's length transactions

Black's Law Dictionary has the following definition:
Arm's length transaction
1. A transaction between two unrelated and unaffiliated parties.
2. A transaction between two parties, however closely related they may be, conducted as if the parties were strangers, wo that no conflict of interest arises.

All of the above involves transfer pricing. Barron's Accounting Handbook has the following definition:
Transfer pricing
Deciding on the price of goods or services that are exchanged between various divisions of a decentralized organization. A major goal of transfer pricing is to enable divisions that exchange goods or services to act as independent businesses. Various Transfer pricing schemes are avalable such as MARKET PRICE, COST-BASED PRICE, or NEGOTIATED PRICE. Unfortuantely, there is no single transfer price that will please everybody - that is, top management, the selling division, and buying division. Usually the best transfer price is the outside market price less costs saved by dealing within the company (e.g., transportation costs, advertising, sales person salaries). IF the two division managers - buyintg division and selling division - can not agree on a price, one will be arbitrated by upper management. When an outside market price is not available, "budgeted" cost plus profit markup may be used so that cost efficiencies at the selling division are still maintained.

Also refer to Mexico's artículos 86, 215 y 216 de la Ley del Impuesto Sobre La Renta.

Also check out the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.

Hope this helps.

(the values of assets arising from operations) are related to market values

This is probably a clearer way of expressing what the writer means.
