English term

rungs

Non-PRO English to Hungarian Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
I have the translation "létrafok" for (ladder) rung, but I need the plural version for rungs (example: the ladder has 10 rungs).
Proposed translations (Hungarian)
5 +1 létrafok

Discussion

juvera Aug 26, 2010:
Hungarian grammar It really depends on the sentence whether you have to use singular or plural. The answer below is correct, but if you want to continue, for example with a sentence like: The rungs are made of wood - then you have to use plural: A létrafokok fából vannak. In other words, it only works if you only have a straightforward list to translate, nothing else. Otherwise you would have to be fairly familiar with Hungarian grammar to be able to decide which one is appropriate.

létrafok

Don't use the plural in such case what you mentioned.

Your example sentence (the ladder has 10 rungs) in Hungarian:

A létra 10 létrafokból áll.
