P.Sh. (Fjalori shqip-shqip i Mehmet Elezit, faqe 1579)

Folja është vithis (shqip). Vendi i krijuar nga vithisja (landslide, cave-in) quhet vithi(subsidence).

steep bank; precipice

These are two more suggestions of the same range as the previous answers, taken from the Albanian - English Dictionary by Leonard Newmark. The word "vithi" carries an asterix in the dictionary, which means that it is not judged to conform to the present-day language standard (maybe it's being revived :)). But as Klemi says, it is definitely the root for the verb "vithisem" = gremisem

ditch

I agree with colleagues about scientific terms, but this in this particular case I would rather go for "ditch", which is used in Insurance/Police reports for car accidents for areas like this.

Hope it helps, Fabiana
