Swedish term
Sällskapsdelen
Swedish to English
Marketing
Real Estate
This term comes up in about half the descriptions of apartments and houses on line. It's based on the idea that homes are divided into more "public" and more private parts. The sällskapsdel often includes living rooms, lounges, libraries, formal dining rooms. I've done lots of these descriptions and always managed to find some circumlocution, but have never been fully satisfied with it. Open to suggestions.

Comment: "Thank you, everyone for confirming that there is no good translation for this term. I ended up using family area and area for socializing in two different contexts. In Imperial China, they distinguished by the inner court and outer court. :-)"
