German term

Schwarzdruckauslegung

German to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Wiper systems
Context:

"Auslegungskriterien für eine Frontwischeranlage
Parameter
...
Schwarzdruckauslegung"

This is one of the design parameters for a windscreen/windshield wiper system. I imagine it has to do with the black area around the edge of the screen.

Discussion

David Williams (asker) May 10, 2011:
As far as I know the frit (i.e. black band/border of dots) around modern windscreens is used to hide the adhesive at the edges of windscreens that are bonded rather than be attached to the car body conventionally (as explained in that link - thanks Uta!).
Uta Kappler May 9, 2011:
Maybe "frit design"... is what they mean with Schwarzdruckauslegung. Windshield glass contains a black enamel band (called the frit) around the periphery that is baked into the glass. This black band includes a border of dots. http://www.wonderquest.com/windshield-dots.htm
Sabine Akabayov, PhD May 9, 2011:
Schwarzdruck wird das Punktraster genannt das auf die Windschutzscheibe oben als Sonnenschutz aufgebracht wird.
jccantrell May 9, 2011:
Is it the area not covered by the wiper, or the "coverage area" wiped by the (black) rubber blades?

winshield sunshade band {design, layout, configuration}

Once I got the context, this became the term that seems most used here in the USA for this.

In the link, look under Exterior and scroll down a bit.
