disagree Jaime Hyland : A common mistake. "since" is used in conjunction with a point in time in the past; "for" involves a length of time. Hence "for three years" but "since 2008" or "since three years ago".

For more than 30 years now


While I agree 100% with Lydia's suggestion of 'for many years' as a translation of 'desde hace muchos años'; to me it seems redundant to say 'For many years — more than 30'.

It would seem more natural to say: 'For more than 30 years now'.
