Japanese term

鎮静

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting Aluminum Casting
This appears in a table showing the specifications and general flow of aluminum casting process. There's just that term, 鎮静時間, next to an amount of time in minutes. It's under the heading of "脱ガス・酸化膜除去・鎮静処理" and comes after melting and tapping

I did find that 鎮静鋼 seems to be "killed steel" and from there I found that "killed" here stands for completely deoxidized, but I'm not sure if the same term would apply to aluminum. Should I used "killing time" (which sounds slightly weird to me even though there seem to be a couple of Google hits for this), "deoxidization time" (but wouldn't it be 脱酸時間 then?) or something else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

fluxing means continued flow; flood actually, let alone the rest that the Asker has mentioned...

The process mentioned by you is called Fluxing.Pl.refer

I managed to contact the author of the original file and now I know exactly what the process is, but still not what to call it.

Basically, after degassing, when the material is still in the holding furnace, it is left alone for a few minutes, so that hydrogen and any oxides have time to float to the top. Since I had to turn the file in, I translated it as "resting" and added an explanation in parentheses, but if anyone knows a proper technical term for this, do share - I'll keep the question open for a day or two more.

sorry, no
Note from asker:
I don't think it's "tempering" - 焼き戻し is a separate item and comes later, after casting. Do you have any sources showing "remission" in this context?

Fluxing

To make a fabricating ingot, molten aluminum proceeds to large furnaces where it can be mixed with other metals to form alloys. From there, the metal undergoes a cleaning process known as fluxing. Fluxing uses gases such as nitrogen or argon to separate impurities and bring them to the surface so they can be skimmed away. The purified aluminum is then poured into molds and cooled rapidly by spraying cold water over the metal...

Note from asker:
Again, appreciate the suggestion, but 焼き入れ is another item that happens after casting and has its own bullet point. The 鎮静 I'm asking about here is happening around the time of degassing, when the material is still in its molten state.
