to Alex Marshall True. But I was looking for the pun part of it (fun not intended ;-))
Alex Marshall Jan 10, 2012:
To ViBe, If you are looking for "волевой" in the legal context, there are lots of options: willful, premeditated, knowing, intentional, calculated, you name it.
ViBe Jan 10, 2012:
Волевое лишение vs. Волевое решение «Волевое лишение» - удачная публицистическая находка. Трудно передать явную аллюзию к выражению «волевое решение». “Voluntold“ is a nice word. Could it fly here somehow? “Predatory” and “unwarranted” also come to mind…
Alex Marshall Jan 10, 2012:
"Intentional dispossession" is the first thing that comes to mind. But I would suggest recasting the sentence a bit.

agree Anton Konashenok : "Disposession" is excellent, but it's more than just intentional, it's arbitrary/unilateral/single-handed

Good point. Arbitrary should cut it fine. Thanks!
agree ViBe : Then "arbitrary dispossession" it is!

disagree Anton Konashenok : voluntary = добровольный

Words can have more than one meaning, and voluntary also means intentional.

predatory (equity) stripping

to add some flavor, although all the other suggestions are correct and good in their own way.

... the case of "voluntold" stripping ... of 17.5% of shares...

The beauty of the word "stripping" is that it's pretty much graphic (no pun intended) and technical at the same time: economists and lawyers use it a lot, as in ”asset stripping.” The concept may be different from what is alluded to in this case, but still, with a bit of imagination, does seem to convey the idea of «лишение» to the reader.
Example sentence:

Equity stripping, also known as equity skimming...
