Οι βασικές προτάσεις και κύριες θέσεις του έργου είναι οι εξής:

Ο κόσμος είναι όλα όσα συμβαίνουν.
Το γεγονός, είναι η ύπαρξη καταστάσεων πραγμάτων.
Κάθε σκέψη είναι μία λογική εικόνα των γεγονότων.
Η σκέψη είναι μια πρόταση με νόημα.
Η πρόταση είναι μια συνάρτηση αλήθειας των στοιχειωδών προτάσεων.
Η γενική μορφή της συνάρτησης αλήθειας είναι [\bar p,\bar\xi, N(\bar\xi)].
\bar p δηλώνει όλες τις ατομικές προτάσεις
\bar\xi δηλώνει οποιοδήποτε σύνολο προτάσεων, και
N(\bar \xi) δηλώνει την άρνηση των προτάσεων που συνιστούν το \bar xi.
Για όσα δεν μπορεί να μιλά κανείς θα πρέπει να σωπαίνει.

There are seven main propositions in the text. These are:

The world is everything that is the case.
What is the case (a fact) is the existence of states of affairs.
A logical picture of facts is a thought.
A thought is a proposition with a sense. (An elementary proposition is a truth-function of itself.)
A proposition is a truth-function of elementary propositions.
The general form of a proposition is the general form of a truth function, which is: [\bar p,\bar\xi, N(\bar\xi)]. This is the general form of a proposition.
Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.
