Gelato che fai, cliente che trovi

Italian to English Marketing Food & Drink gelato
Every now and then we can have a bit of fun.
On the site of the Italian Gelato-Makers association there is a page on positioning.
http://www.ilgelatoartigianale.info/Sei_un_gelatiere/Il_Posi...

Of course the slogan is untranslatable per se, but as you have all come up with such a lot of nice ideas on previous occasions, instead of looking at the ice building inexporably up outside your window, you may prefer dream of sunny summer days, and the choices that a gelato-maker has on how to flog his wares...

Discussion

Anthony Green (asker) Feb 10, 2012:
Many thanks to everyone Thanks so much to everyone who joined in - we had a lot of fun at this end looking at all of the entries, and as time went on, the word "flavour" seemed to be the way to go. In the end, Russell's was the catchiest (brilliant rhyming) and Colin's was the front-runner for a long while until Oliver refined Texjax's idea with some great repetition.
If only our job were always like this!
Katia DG Feb 8, 2012:
Lo slogan è una parafrasi di "Paese che vai, usanza che trovi" ("When in Rome, do as the Romans do"), ma in realtà un proverbio che si adatta meglio al contesto sarebbe "Every Jack will find his Jill". Every flavour will find its Jill? Non essendo di madrelingua inglese, non so giudicare il grado di assurdità della frase, che per quanto mi riguarda, potrebbe anche essere improponibile.

Find your flavour: find your customer

The link provided exhorts ice-cream makers to reflect on what their unique selling point is (unusual flavours, organic ingredients, etc.) and use that awareness to better market themselves. It's not about quality per se, or 'when in Rome...'.
Hence the above attempt. HTH :).

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This of course was the hardest part, selecting the best out of some memorable entries. In the end I sent the customer three alternatives: Oliver's, Russell's and Colin's, all of which show that instead of slaving over a hot PC all day to earn your keep you could be coming up with catchy phrases for a living in the swankiest Milan advertising agencies..."

Ice cream, You love it.

I know, I know, it's silly and it works only when you hear it, but my love for ice cream overcomes my fear of ridicule;-P
Peer comment(s):

neutral Barbara Carrara : Why not go with the whole Daunbailò line, 'I Scream, U Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream'? I think it fits. Bacio, bi

To each his own ice cream

an idea.
Peer comment(s):

agree texjax DDS PhD : I like it, but I would use "gelato" instead of ice cream

yes, a nice touch! Thanks.
agree Lorraine Buckley (X) : good - though the site is using "gelato" as a cool alternative to ice cream (part of the global positioning of Italian ice cream!!) so, "to each his own gelato" sorry texjax, our great minds thought alike

Each flavor has its customer(s)

...o "palate", volendo, ma forse si perde il riferimento commerciale dato che si tratta di posizionamento.

Altra opzione:
Each flavor has its (own) customer base

Buona giornata, ciao!

Ho partecipato anch'io solo perché c'è di mezzo il gelato (rigorosamente alla nocciola piemontese. Slurp!). Magari un 'neutral' è meglio, va... Ti ribacio, bi

bespoke gelato experiences

You could play around with the old adspeak favourite "bespoke".

Note, too, that "gelato" is not quite the same as ice cream since it usually has a lower butterfat content.
