"sublime" This word was not presented in the "term" field, but I do feel that it holds the key to what should come before it:
"sublime
adjective
1. elevated or lofty in thought, language, etc.: Paradise Lost is sublime poetry.
2. impressing the mind with a sense of grandeur or power; inspiring awe, veneration, etc.: Switzerland has sublime scenery.
3. supreme or outstanding: a sublime dinner.
4. complete; absolute; utter: sublime stupidity.
5. Archaic .... of lofty bearing...
etc"

Note particularly: No.2 " Switzerland has sublime scenery."

does not imply

"The work doesn't imply a beautiful/sublime landscape, but a serene sky and a new horizon" would be a rough translation.

"illudere" in this case is being used to mean "to make someone imagine/believe" - in other words, the work in question is not trying to describe beautiful scenery.

agree S E (X) : 'allude to' (I think 'illude' is a typo): the idea is that rather than a sublime landscape, it is a serene one (a sublime landscape, in the intended sense of 'sublime', would be intense and grand). 'Sublime landscape' is a standard art historical category

Maybe this is one way to look at this. I see the phrase as saying that there is no pretension here suggesting the sublime, it is just a modest, simple sky and horizon.

doesn't play tricks with lofty/sublime landscapes

subliminal has nothing whatsoever to do with it!

Incidentally, one can even use the term "fiddle" here: semantically it would be quite valid.
