Swedish term

bock

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering heavy lifting equipment
Hi,

Found this term 'bock' which has various prefixes, e.g. rullbock, peribock, etc. The company in question provides these 'bocks' for heavy lifting jobs.

example: Rullbock – flyttbar bock

any ideas?

Deane Goltermann May 14, 2012:
You have to be more precise here Bock is used in many different ways. And a rullbock is a specific use, while flyttbar is a description of how you can use your bock. 'Peribock' seams very special -- not in my Engströms. Found on a single site! Yours?

trestle

Like I said, 'bock' has many usages and the actual piece of equipment varies in large and small contexts -- with the Eng term varying accordingly. I would therefore ask that you specify your request into the separate terms you are looking for -- that is, one term per question, as the rules state.

When it comes to heavy lifting, as in a shop handling large machines, and heavy load, I think you are heading in this direction. You can even find 'mobile' trestles. But you really need to give more context.

agree Sven Petersson : One is supposed to write a sentene under "Example sentence(s):", not a web reference.

;-) , just can't see straight!
agree asptech : "trestle" is the most general term corresponding to our "bock". As you say yourself, there are many others.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "trestle is the best so far. upon further research I found the term 'jack'. Lyftbock = lifting jack."

(lifting) trolley

This is one term we often use but will it fit all the Swedish examples?
