For example: if a cheap cosmetic company is losing sales because everyone is buying organic products, they can reinvent their brand by using primarily organic ingredients. They can then market themselves to a new audience.
Or - if a standard car company is losing sales, they can come up with a new sleek sports car and cater towards buyers in that type of market.
