I really don't have much more context. I know that the article is decsribing Perón heathcare policies.
franglish Jul 7, 2012:
@susiq to ascertain the kind of unemployed the sentence refers to we need more context.
"There were millions excluded still, those cronically unemployed in "invisible"areas abandoned due to the agricultural export model."
lorenab23 Jul 7, 2012:
abandonadas por "invisibles" por el modelo the way I read it: abandonadas por el modelo por ser "invisibles". the areas were abandoned as they were of "no-consequence" to the agricultural export model... As in these areas did not serve a purpose to the export model. My humble opinion :-)
susiq (asker) Jul 7, 2012:

franglish Jul 7, 2012:
OK here's my go:
cronically unemployed in "invisible" areas due to the agricultural export model.
It's not for but because of the agricultural export model.
susiq (asker) Jul 7, 2012:
chronic unemployed in "invisible" areas for the agro-export model
franglish Jul 7, 2012:
@susiq sí, eso es
susiq (asker) Jul 7, 2012:
La versión mía al inglés?
franglish Jul 7, 2012:
@susiq y qual es su traducción?

chronically unemployed in regions abandoned for being irrelevant to the agro-export model

Another option might be "chronically unemployed in regions whose relevance is not seen/perceived by the agro-export model."

long-term unemployed in regions abandoned as "invisible" by the agroexport models

desocupados crónicos best fits long-term unemployed.

regiones abandonadas por "invisibles" por el modelo, seems to say that those regions are treated as invisible, although they are not, and in that way they are abandoned (by the authorities). The best way to say that, to my mind, is:
"long-term unemployed in regions which are abandoned as invisible by the model" or,
"long-term unemployed in regions abandoned as invisible by the model".
