If this wasn't art/literary I'd suggest not to translate it, but as it is I'd translate it:
"[...] Nem sequer uma ajudante the Mães."
help = ajuda
but to translate into Pt I would make 'helper'='ajudante' because it makes the sentence more understandable in Pt and it doesn't change the meaning.
