traducere vs. echivalare In traducere se foloseste notiunea de (Ro)licentiat, (En) Diploma in (in cazul inginerilor) s.a.m.d. Din pacate, nu traducatorul acorda echivalarea si, in concluzie, trebuie facuta traducere pur si simplu ... my 2c ...
In acest caz se pune in paranteza echivalentul. Sau nu se traduce si se pune nota equivalent to: ... in paranteza.

:) ''degree in'' = licentiat in, diploma de.

Scopul meu a fost sa spun ca nu putem traduce BA sau BSc in acest caz (dupa cum ati propus), ci sa spunem ''bachelor/degree in''.
Nina Iordache Jan 2, 2013:
Diana Coada (X) Jan 2, 2013:
I think it would be better to say ''with a degree in economics'' given that we don't know whether it's a BA or a BSc.
Lara Barnett Jan 1, 2013:
Context Could you please give the complete sentence or phrase that this relates to so that we can give the correct structure of the idea. Thank you.

Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor of Economics, Economics Bachelor

Bachelor of Science in Economics (Canada)
Bachelor of Arts in Economics (US)

In urma clarificarii, propun varianta de traducere a termenului folosit in SUA.

In acest caz specific, dupa traducerea termenului, adaug in paranteza: "Equivalent to" si adaug titlul folosit in tara respectiva.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Lara Barnett : Economics Bachelor is a very bad construction// where is it used? I suggest you check out your sources. It is most unprofessional for a translator to misuse their native\working language. Just because it can be found on Google does not mean it is correct.

economist licentiat

In Canada ai Bachelor of Science of Economics dar ai si B.A. Major in Economics (University of Okanagan, etc.)... iar in Suedia ai Licentiate Degree in Economics.

economist licentiat [University Degree in Economics]

Could be a bachelor's degree or a master's degree...not for us to decide.

In such cases, I always provide the Romanian term in italics followed by a suggested translation in brackets.

In Canada, la unele universitati, mai exista si Honours Bachelor's Degree (4 years) vs. Bachelor's Degree (3 years). It's complicated.... :)

Degree or University Degree in Economics covers all of the above.
