English term

Code of conduct

English to Urdu Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
The purpose of the company's Code of Conduct is to provide a framework for measuring your conduct in any instance against our guiding principles. It is summary in its nature and is not intended to be an all-inclusive description of our legal and ethical responsibilities. The Company publishes policies from time to time, which also guide us to do the right thing and which we expect our employees to read and abide by.

Actually I tried on other site and most translators answered as "ضابطہ اخلاق", if it is right meaning, then what will be the meaning of code of ethics, some answered as "ضابطہ اخلاقیات" which is not used generally.

Can any one give me accurate meaning with reference

ضابطہ اخلاق

I think it is the better translation as it is mentioned in this reference also. http://www.nawaiwaqt.com.pk/columns/01-Feb-2013/171289
Peer comment(s):

agree Irshad Muhammad : I have seen the same translation on many documents.

disagree Muhammad Ikram : I know this term has been used but this does not convey the exact meaning rather it conveys wrong meaning of the term. Its back translation in code of Ethics which is way beyond what "code of conduct" says.

ضابطہ طرز عمل/ ضابطہ اطوار

National Language Authority, Pakistan's "Official terms" gives this translation: ضابطہ طرز عمل which in my opinion is not good. I would suggest ضابطہ اطوار because code of conduct is something that describes how a certain action will be performed. Moreover the context describes that it is something to define one's actions against a set of principles.

You can use which suits you more.
Peer comment(s):

agree Qudsia Lone : I think simply ضابطۂ عمل would suffice. The combination gives the intended meaning.

disagree Irshad Muhammad : Tarz-e-amal means Action style which is very far from the source

Tarza-e-amal means the way an action is performed. tarz simply means the way. How can you say that it is far from the source? Moreover this is not my suggestion. This term is given by NLA (Daftari Islahat, First Edition 2006, pg. 157)
agree ALTAF ZAKI : I agree, ضابطہ عمل, seems closest, literally and logically too. Code of conduct is certain set of rules, values, ethics, principals and organizational procedues.
