The water has to be removed to the sides on the surface in double track sections without superelevation. Consequently the cross-section of the line is to be roof-shaped with the highest point in the middle of the line (between the tracks). To achieve this, the area between the tracks is to be filled with a suitable material (asphalt, concrete) and the joints between it and the track concrete layers must be sealed in water proven manner.

In double track sections with superelevation the area between the tracks must be shaped as a channel which leads the water to the drainage shafts placed along the track line. The intervals between the shafts and their connection to the overall drainage system are to be chosen accordingly to the individual project requirements
