Discussion
The reason I ask is that following 'preparing papers', one might logically expect 'hosting events' — i.e. where 'hosting' is a gerund defining 'the action of hosting' an event.
A 'host event', on the other hand, where 'host' is an adjective qualifying 'event', is something quite different — and sits slightly oddly in your text; unless, of course, we are intended to read 'preparing ... host events', which is of course a distinct possibility!
More context might help us to at least form an idea of what such 'host events' might be.
