Niestety nie znam niczego z zelówką (problem polega na tym, że podeszwa stopy też jest "sole", więc googlowanie aż tak wiele nie daje). Dosłownie chodzi o zdarcie butów. W takich przypadkach wybieram jakąś formę osobową, np. "wore his shoes out" i patrzę na wystąpienia (jakie i ile). Tak jest łatwiej niż abstrakcyjnie lecieć po "one's", to + infinitive itd.

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever traveled to. The people are warm, the weather is wild, and the city is clean and green! I recently had the chance to take a quick girls trip down to San Francisco. We had 48 hours to pound the pavement to see and do as much as we could.
