Trough vs. Dip

Как технический выход из положения, хотя оба слова употребляются в одинаковом смысле. К dip можно добавить (the lowermost point)

Let's make it clear: Ложбина волны = wave trough; Подошва волны = wave hollow
Note from asker:
However, in the Russian text it clearly states that: Подошва волны - наинизшая точка ложбины волны. this means that Подошва волны -is the Wave trough. Your initial answer seems to be the other way around.
Let's make it clear: Ложбина волны = wave hollow. Подошва волны = wave trough. Is this what you are stating? I tend to agree.
Peer comment(s):

agree Oleg Kadkin : wave trough = подошва, wave hollow = ложбина. Why you don't agree with the asker?
