Is it from the second world war? That would explain the person's religion being mentioned almost as part of their name.
Marie Jammers Mar 27, 2014:
Is "mos." after a parent's name? If it is, Johanna might be right that it states the religion of that parent. Usually the religion is not abbreviated, however, in this case it might have been. Or is the religion of the parents stated anywhere else?
Eddie Alaszewski (X) (asker) Mar 27, 2014:
Yes, exactly.
philgoddard Mar 27, 2014:
So does it say something like "Johann Schmidt mos., 123 Hauptstrasse"?
Eddie Alaszewski (X) (asker) Mar 27, 2014:
it gives the person's name then mos. then their address in a birth certificate
Steffen Walter Mar 27, 2014:
More context Please provide more context - what comes before and after this? Other than that, "mos." might simply be the abbreviated name of the typist or clerk.
