whoops sorry, one more question

This menu is littered with "verduritas". What is that about? Are they just being coy, or do they mean vegetables chopped up small, or what?

Spanish restaurant, btw. Vegetables do not usually figure very largely.

vegetable garnish

Verduritas in Spain can refer to any vegetables. Rather like "greens" in UK, but that doesn't sound appetising either. I don't think it refers to size.

agree Ruben Berrozpe (X) : Sheila, I think you're right here. It's just a fashionable way of saying this. Good shot!

neutral Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : I'm not sure garnish, strictly speaking, can be used like this. a garnish is like a little decoration, parseley, a rose tomato, etc not an accompanying vegetable; even though in Spanish is guarnición

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks Sheila, I'm pretty sure this is it. Note to Jane: Spanish restaurants are really not big on vegetables. You could get a steak big enough to feed a family, with a pound of chips, and then a dessert-spoonful of ratatouille, or something. It's really not big enough to call a side."

agree brendaskye : I think that they're just being cute with "vegetalitos"; it's just vegetables, not specifically chopped nor small.

in fancy restaurants, we say the vegatable

ie
roast beef with asparagus or the Frenchified or French equivalent...

cheaper places, say, WITH A CHOICE OF VEGETABLES at the bottom of the menus

BE that as it may, in this Spanish rendition, they are using a term we really don\'t use.....
