Spanish term
pareja pedagógica
Spanish to English
Social Sciences
Education / Pedagogy
Hello everyone,
I cannot find an exact equivalent to the concept of "pareja pedagógica", which consists of a pair of students collaborating in each other's educational process.
I did find a couple of instances of "pedagogical pair" as a translation in Spanish-speaking authors' papers. I am afraid it might be too literal a translation and not the expression used in the discipline.
There are a few occurrences of the expression throughout the (very short) text:
«La pareja pedagógica en el proceso de aprendizaje»
«Evaluación entre pares o pareja pedagógica»
«La pareja pedagógica en el contexto universitario»
Any help or reference material will be greatly appreciated.
NB: I am aware that the concept comes from the teachings of Paulo Freire. He talks about it throughout his works, but, as far as I know, he never labels it.

student pairs OR pair work
"Pedagogy" is a term that exists but is really not used naturally by native speakers.
It depends on context. In your examples, I'd put:
- Pair work in the learning process
- Peer and Pair Evaluation/Assessment
- Pair work in the university
Peer Instruction: Using Pairs to Engage All Students | CRLT

Feb 28, 2014 - Other techniques teachers can use to help foster inclusivity while using student pairs include: Incorporating regular opportunities for students to ...
Note: Peer refers to any other student in a class or peers for among various or all the students, while "pair work" or "student pairs" indicates two students (who are, of course, peers).

peer evaluation/peer review
Hola Susana,
This is, I think, the most common way to refer to it in English.
"In her study, then, she tape recorded students working in pairs (she allowed them to self-select pair or individual work to reduce ethical conflicts of forcing students into group projects). She then interviewed the students who worked in pairs for their feelings about the usefulness/effectiveness of the collaborative task."

: Your answer is correct only for the 2nd example (Evaluación entre pares), but is not correct for "pareja pedagógica)... although your reference cites "pairs" not "peers".

Thanks for you comment, Cinnamon. If you read the reference text, though, you will find the relation. They are actually more than just related. Thanks!
