German term

Armaturenschrank

German to English Tech/Engineering tanker semitrailers
1 großer Armaturenschrank aus Edelstahl mittig under dem Auflieger montiert

I have seen this on some websites translated simply as (bottom loading). I can't seem to find it anywhere and have almost reached the point where I want to go out and try and flag a tanker down and ask the driver what that box with all the hardware underneath the semi is called here!
Can anyone help?

meter box

The two translations given in Langenscheidt are meter box and control cabinet. I don't know a lot about semis, but the description of an army tanker indicates that meters are located in equipment boxes.

Two 100 GPM meters are located in the roadside equipment cabinet of the M969. The meter counter registers up to 9,999 gallons. To reset the count to zero, push in the meter reset knob on the side of the meter and turn clockwise. The meter may also be used during defueling operations. If any trouble with the meter occurs, take the vehicle to organizational maintenance. The utility meter must also be checked for accuracy to make sure the correct amount of fuel is being delivered. There are three dispensing assemblies on the M969 tank semitrailer.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks once again for your help, Kim! Thanks also to the others for your suggestions. I considered bottom loader, but I believe in this case, this refers not just to the loading system/mechanism, but to the entire box. Therefore, I decided to use equipment box, as opposed to a panel or cnosole. But I appreciate everyone's input. "
