: I think "wall cavity" might be better - after all, it's the gap between the walls, not the walls themselves. The Wikipedia article on inflatable buildings refers to "cavities of the walls".

It's non cavity wall, at least not always, rather... Intercapedine is this: Say, you have a house stuck to a rock on one side. The wall on that side sweats out humidity. To get rid of the problem you create an "intercapedine" by building another wall insise the house parallel to the carrier wall stuck to the rock. The walls don't touch, and the interspace between them (intercapedine, usually 5 - 10 cm ) is aerated through four lateral holes: two for each lateral wall. Like that the humidity doesn't get into the house.
That's for construction. But there exist also thermic interspaces , where "the intercapedini termiche" serve as heat shields; pneumatic ones, adding security to an inflatable structure, and so forth.
But the principle is the same: create an interspace by making a membrane (wall) parallel to and not touching the extant one.

how did we get to "manufatto"??? Strictly speaking "manufatto" is "a construct", an artefact, in sum, anything made. You can even translate it as "object" if you wish. THAT doesn't really matter: it's not literature, it's a technical stuff. Maufatto is just a way of saying "a man-made object". It can be a building or a lollypop. But I repeat myself. Intercapedine is a different matter: this has to be translated precisely. As for "manufatto", you are free to imporvise... not too much thogh...:)

You shouldn't use "the same" - it might be appropriate in a patent, but not here. I suggest something like: "There are apertures in the fabric allowing these to be positioned".
