: Chauffer des explosifs... mais en plus pendant / lors / ... Ceci est complètement faux. Le terme explosif thermique désigne un explosif sensible à la chaleur, quelque soit la phase de traitement.

small fly in the ointment: "explosif thermique" IS NOT in the ST - what is in the ST is "heating (verb) explosives (subject of the verb) during processing" - mentioned as one of the risks during processing [of unspecified explosives]

: Of course! This is the only way I can find to interpret the source text; it is well known that some explosives need to be heated (gently!) in order to get them out of their casing

explosifs chauffants
Cependant il faudrait vraiment un peu plus de contexte ...

: se chauffer aux explosifs? la plupart de ceux qui l'ont essayé n'ont plus été en mesure de donner leur avis sur cette idée...

: Agree with Daryo and his explanation in the Discussion box. Explosives are not usually used for heating — well, other than rather dramatically!

Explosifs thermiques
Une explosion peut résulter d'une augmentation brutale de température quand un procédé dégage plus de chaleur (par réaction chimique, frottement, compression, chauffage par micro-ondes...) que le système peut en évacuer et perdre vers l’extérieur. Il y a alors « explosion thermique » due à une libération brutale et massive d’énergie, souvent, avec émissions importantes de gaz et vapeurs inflammables ou toxiques.
Discussion
If the sentence is complete (maybe the Title of a chapter), then I acknowledge that I'm totally wrong.
Heating explosives during processing.
=
Heating (verb) explosives (subject of the verb) during processing
that parsing makes sense - grammatically and in real life: the ST is about various risks that can occur during the processing [of ammunition], and heating explosives above their point of ignition is definitely a risk to be avoided.
Seeing "Heating explosives" as adjective + noun, supposed to mean "thermal explosives" (+ during processing)
is a grammatical nonsense: "during" can only be attached to a verb or a noun describing some action - where is the passing of time in "Explosifs thermiques"?
"Explosifs thermiques pendant le traitement des munitions" sounds logical?
