The present invention relates to a method for preparing linear alpha-olefins (LAO).

The liquid outlet stream usually contains solvent, catalyst, dissolved ethylene and linear alpha-olefins. The catalyst may be preferably deactivated by caustic, although other quenching agents, such as water, alcohol or fatty acids, are known in the prior art.
