pass through the numbers

English to Spanish Law/Patents Law (general) Caso de divorcio en curso
The husband is telling the wife that he wishes conflicts to finish, but "it does not pass through the numbers", as she has suggested. Then he asks her to keep the children out of unresolved financial issues in the divorce.

a possible meaning He wants to get the divorce/conflicts over with, but he doesn't agree with the wife's calculations of dividing up the money or assets. That would explain why he mentions keeping the children out of the financial issues. I don't think the divorce is about money, but he doesn't agree with her idea about settlement.

I agree with you, I've never heard this expression in English... If I were to read it somewhere, my first guess would be to think that it is a bad translation of the spanish expression "no pasa por la plata".

pasa por plata/pasa por dinero

Es un lenguaje informal pero puede ser apropiado para un diálogo como el que describes. En tu caso seria "no pasa por plata". O sea, el tema de la plata o el dinero no es lo que definirá el conflicto. Existe tambien pasa por números pero no me parece apropiado para un conflicto claramente con una alución financiera. Mucha suerte!
