Dutch term

insteekopdracht

Dutch to English Other Education / Pedagogy marks list
I do not have any context for this work. I am translating a marks list for a student of a Hogeschool and one of the things she is assessed on is an "insteekopdracht marketing". Does anyone know what insteekopdracht means in this context? Might it have something to do with testing the approach a student takes to a certain subject?

Discussion

Kitty Brussaard Feb 13, 2015:
Agree with Freek Checking the meaning of this term with the Hogeschool would be the safest approach. That being said, it seems that Dutch 'hogescholen' often refer to the 'praktijkgerichte insteek' of their programmes. Perhaps 'insteekopdracht' simply means 'praktijkopdracht' or 'praktijkgerichte opdracht' :-).

@Asker: call Hogeschool! ... only way to find out...!
Michael Beijer Feb 12, 2015:
@Willemina: Hmm, but then it probably should have been written as "marketing insteek opdracht" (an assignment testing marketing efforts?). Puzzling indeed.

The more I think about this, the more I think it might indeed mean something like "extra assignment". Die opdracht wordt tussen andere "ingestoken". Zoiets. Rare taal, maar zou best kunnen.
Willemina Hagenauw (asker) Feb 12, 2015:
nothing missing Hi Freek, no there is nothing missing, as the word appears in three different marks lists. The problem is the lack of context. It could of course mean an assignment focused on the approach of marketing.
freekfluweel Feb 12, 2015:
missing "/" ? 0 Ghits for "insteekopdracht"

-> insteek/opdracht Marketing -> verhandeling of daadwerkelijke opdracht
Michael Beijer Feb 12, 2015:
hmm, never heard this before I was wondering if it might not be something to do with a test that is given in-between other tests. That is "inserted" or "added on" (as in insteekmodule = plug-in module). No idea really.

Self-explanatory.

It should be "marketing approach assignment"...
Example sentence:

Approach Assignment for Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Practice

Peer comment(s):

neutral Michael Beijer : Not so sure about this. Both your ref (actually: "Developing Online Resources to Support How Students Approach Assignment Questions: Enhancing Reflection and Practice for Staff and Students") and example sentence are out of context.

You're right. The refs are out of context. "Insteek" usually means "the efort that you put in" to a particular task, which is why it makes sense to me.
neutral Tina Vonhof (X) : Not self-explanatory - what is an approach assignment?
