anglais term

master pin

anglais vers français Technique / Génie Mécanique / génie mécanique Description de machinerie
Bonjour à tous

dans un manuel d'entretien et de dépose des chenilles, je ne trouve pas le terme de "master pin". Le contexte est le suivant:

To uncouple the track group the following the steps below:
1. Jack up the machine and block safely on firm, level ground.
2. Locate the master pin. This can be identified by small circular indentations, or by an X marked on each of the end faces.

Merci à tous
Anne

Change log

Feb 24, 2015 10:39: FX Fraipont (X) changed "Level" from "Non-PRO" to "PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (3): Tony M, AnneMarieG, FX Fraipont (X)

Non-PRO (1): GILLES MEUNIER

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

je vois plus une broche avec éventuellement une goupille de sécurité qui la maintient en place

agree Tony M : Yes of course for 'axe' / But what about the 'master' issue? It's like a 'pièce maîtresse'...

Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Yes of course for 'axe' — but surely 'master' here does indeed have the sense of 'master' or 'key', rather than 'main'? All these pins are 'the same', but this one is the key to all the others? What do you reckon?

disagree jean-pierre belliard : this not about axe but pin

this is a kind of similar situation:
Mount the coupling sleeve taking care to locate the pin in the groove in the shaft of the hydraulic unit.
followed by this translation:
monter le manchon d'accouplement en prenant soin de placer la goupille dans la gorge de l'arbre de l'hydraulique

Peer comments on this reference comment:

neutral Tony M : That's a quite different type of 'pin'; here we have a kind of 'pivot pin', so 'axe' is correct.
