manual

German to English Bus/Financial Tourism & Travel Hotel bills (meals)
In a German hotel receipt, there are charges itemized by date. A couple of the entries use the word manual, examples below:

[date] [proper name] Abendessen manual 19% 312.00 euro
[date] [proper name] Frühstück Essen manual 19% nur 1 person -10.50 euro
[last date of stay][proper name] Frühstück Essen manual 19% 10.50 euro

My main question: does "manual" have a meaning connected with the Mehrwertsteuer or does it have a meaning associated with hotels and/or meals in hotels?

The person stayed in the hotel several days, so perhaps the high dinner charge is a total for several meals.

Thanks everyone so far I agree with Steffen Walter, it is probably just a misspelling for "manuell". I don't really understand, though, why it being a manual entry is significant enough to write on an invoice for the customer. I agree with phil and others, I intend to just put "VAT" as the translation.

manual "Manual" might as well be a "Denglisch" part for "manuell" (manual entry) displayed by the software involved in the process.

I think an OCR error is more likely than it being a manual entry. After all, the German word would be manuell, not manual.

@philgoddard The OCR mistake was just a guess. But as you mentioned yourself, it is about VAT = MwSt. The origin may be no OCR mistake, but the result stays the same: MwSt, doesn't it? ;)

I don't think it's a mistake. Although the figure that follows is obviously the VAT rate, it presumably means a manual rather than automated entry. But I'd put VAT as the translation, because your customer isn't going to be interested in whether it was a manual entry.

I assume it is a kind of OCR mistake or something similar. You are completely right: "manual" does not make any sense at all, "Mehrwertsteuer" or the abbreviation is of course the right term.
