where Iñaki Oyarbide (one of my favorite Spanish chefs) makes this dish and explains that there have to be some lumps, otherwise they'd be "puré de patata" (mashed potatoes).

This photo looks pretty similar to what he made on the video:

From the various recipes I read, it is potatoes mashed with other ingredients, mostly spring onions.
