Spanish term

DEV. ACH O CHEQUE FOND

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Statements
Can anyone suggest what this bank statement entry means? Other entries include "TRANSFER ENVIADA", "DEPOSITO EFECTIVO", "TRANSACCION AHORROS" and "TRANSF. MISMO CLTE", all of which are fairly obvious.

David Swain (asker) Sep 13, 2015:
Thanks Andy. I was being so dopey - clearly "DEV." refers to both "ACH" and "CHEQUE FOND", rather than just "ACH". Thanks for pointing that out.
Andy Watkinson Sep 13, 2015:
Looks like the typical "literal". As it seems to refer to one of various scenarios - in this case - rejection, I'd expect "Devolución de ACH (as per Taña's suggestion) o cheque s/fondo(s)"
i.e. 2 possible reasons for an instrument to be returned - rejected by clearing or bouncing cheque.
Does any of that make sense in the context
David Swain (asker) Sep 12, 2015:
The document is from Colombia. Sorry, I really should have included that information in the original post...
Taña Dalglish Sep 12, 2015:
@ David Where are the document(s) from? (country of origin)?

ACH TRANSFER OR CHEQUE/CHECK RETURNED FOR INSUFFICIENT FUNDS

It stands for "DEVOLUCIÓN TRANSFERENCIA ACH O CHEQUE POR FONDOS INSUFICIENTES".

There wasn't probably enough space to write "insuficientes".

Hope you'll find it useful.

agree Andy Watkinson : As I suggest in the discussion entry, "s/fondos" would suffice.

I'm probably off base here, as I am not sure at all, but perhaps "DEV. ACH O CHEQUE FOND", where "DEV." is "devolución", and "ACH" is "Automated Clearing House". See previous entry in ProZ glossary:
http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_spanish/finance_general...

Note from asker:
That's a great suggestion Taña, thanks. What about "CHEQUE FOND"? Any thoughts?
