What type of action is not available when using "Plug Management" within the DynaMiX Platform?
Data cannot be transferred to a plug from within the DynaMiX Platform plug management utility
Plugs cannot be changed from one format to another, such as changing a Vehicle Plug into a *Device Driver Plug*

After much enquiring into proz etc I found that the Driver plug should be translated "clé codée du conducteur" but am not sure about
Device driver plug "dispositif de clé codée"?
(the client insists that I have to translate plug by the word "prise" which is ridiculous, but I suppose I have to bow to the client even though they are wrong!)

What do the experts say?

Driver plug est clé codée du conducteur (c'est déjà sur leur site web français) donc il n'y a pas d'ambiguité à ce niveau là. Mais je trouvais que dire "Dispositif de la clé codée" faisait un peu lourd. Je n'ai peut-être pas été assez claire dans ma question!

C'est sûr que tout prête assez à confusion et que des termes moins équivoques auraient pu être utilisés, mais s'il s'agit de ne pas pouvoir interchanger des formats de connecteurs, alors driver me semble ici se distinguer de vehicle et serait donc bien le chauffeur et non le pilote (de périphérique)... histoire sans doute de ne pas se tromper de type ou de sens de branchement ?

Bonjour Je ne pense pas qu'il soit ridicule de traduire plug par prise, on peut l'utiliser aussi comme prise secteur, prise USB ou autre. Certains préfèreront connecteur, fiche, etc. Peu importe à vrai dire...

Sans contexte précis, ceci n'est qu'une suggestion.
J'ai beaucoup entendu le terme de "plug" en développement logiciel (Agile) aux U.S.
En gros, lorsqu'on n'a pas encore écrit certaines parties du code, on met à la place un "plug", un bout de code simpliste qui se contente de simuler le fonctionnement futur. Je n'en connais pas de traduction officielle. Cela pourrait être un "bouchon", mais je trouve le terme de "simulateur" plus explicite.
Enfin, dans un contexte informatique, je n'oserais pas traduire "device driver" par "conducteur". "Pilote", au moins, préserve l'ambiguïté.

Yes, you can call "pilote" a driver program which controls some kind of hardware. It mainly translates high level commands into basic commands understood by this kind of device.

The definition I found for "Device driver" is: "a program that controls a particular type of device that is attached to your computer". however the context is Telematics (vehicle tracking) so although it is IT related, it is somewhat specialised. Can a computer program be called a "pilote"?

device = mobile device in the context = appareil (not "périphériques", as the word "peripheral" is used for anything that connects to a "mobile device". And "mobile" means it is installed in a vehicle of the fleet.

I guess it means that once a plug has been coded for a particular function (vehicle, driver, passenger...), the function cannot be modified from within the plug management system.

The above, which I forgot to put in inverted commas, is an extract from the source document. They make a distinction between the Vehicle plug and the Device driver plug. With this in view, would you still maintain the same translation?
So if there are different plugs that are inserted into the mobile device, are you quite sure (and of course I hardly understand this field at all!) that one could not insert a clé codée pour pilote de périphérique? ie a plug for a device driver?

Sorry to be such a bore, but the term "device drivers" also appears in this document, hence My hesitation : You can select Configuration Terminal Script Terminal Device Drivers Terminal Database And CAN device drivers
