Dutch term
overeenkomen
It is not clear to me what they mean by this expression "komt goed overeen".
Could it be "performs well when compared to other methods, and has been approved for this use"?
Thanks in advance!

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

"Deze methode komt goed overeen met andere methoden en is goedgekeurd voor deze toepassing". =
(1) "This method corresponds very closely to other methods and is approved for this application."
other options include
(2) "This method is sufficiently comparable/similar/analogous to other methods, such that it is approved for this application."
or
(3) "This method is sufficiently comparable/similar/analogous/akin/alike to other methods and is approved for this application."

I see what you mean by "eerder een verzwakking dan een versterking". In that case, I still think "is sufficiently comparable/similar/analogous to", or "corresponds closely to" would also work. // See my Discussion entry.

Not really concurrently; rather, this seems to be a newer method which yields the same, or similar enough results as previous (standard) methods and is therefore considered fit for application.

Definitely! (Seems to be an unfortunate tradition at ProZ.com that askers don't consider it necessary to provide added context when asked to do so, or to take part in discussions and answer queries of colleagues trying to provide sensible proposals.)

In short, I think "corresponds closely" is actually a very nice, exact translation of "goed overeenkomen met".
See e.g.
– Oxforddictionaries.com: correspond = 1. Have a close similarity; match or agree almost exactly:
– Merriam-Webster's: correspond = b: to compare closely: MATCH — usually used with to or with
The phrase "corresponds closely" belongs thuis in het rijtje: correspond roughly/closely/exactly/precisely to something (in increasing levels of similarity).
